Features
AIM Keys is a great utility for anyone wanting to save time. Here are just a few of the many ways AIM Keys can be used to save time and improve efficiency:
Universal Macro Recording and Playback
Windows shortcuts: Replace hard to remember Windows keyboard shortcuts with much easier ("np" for Notepad program) text shortcuts.
You can type the shortcut in any program, even in the programs that have no keyboard input (empty desktop, MS Paint, etc.) and the shortcut will be performed.
|
|
Customize favorite applications: Customize macros for your favorite applications to get more out of what you already have.
Each macro can be setup to run only in a specified windows, so one favorite
shortcut doesn't interfere with another! |
|
Cross-application tasks: By using the Application Execute and Run Macro syntax commands you can design macros that will work with multiple applications.
You can structure your macros to work within only one specific application or
system wide. |
|
Built-in Macros: A generous palette of out-of-the-box macros is
available, spanning multiple categories from simple launching of programs,
window manipulation, to system commands - like shutdown and control panel
access.
You can access them with the user friendly Macro Wizard, or compose them from
scratch using the included Insert and Edit Syntax helper functions. |
|
Automatic Text Replacement
Phrases: Why type the same phrases over and over again? Create a library of most frequently used phrases and use it in any word processor, text editor or e-mail program you choose.
From the simple personal signature to full text chunks, whatever you find
yourself typing too much!. |
|
Form templates: If you often fill out forms on the Internet or at work, you can define templates that will fill in default entries (date, time, phrases, etc.) in any particular field of the form.
You can both enter static text or expand a previous setup macro - this way you
can change the data entered with only one initial form layout setup! |
|
Centralization and Management
Get organized: With the proprietary .AKM file format the macros you create are organized, moved in virtual folders, sorted and edited in the most streamlined way.
The format has changed during AIM Keys releases (the first was in 1996!) but
full backward compatibility is retained. |
